Sponsorship Integration: Adding Sponsor Logos to Team Uniforms

Sponsors want to be seen, and your team wants to look like a team. Good placement and a clear hierarchy give both without turning the jersey into a billboard.

Pick placements with a hierarchy

Decide which mark comes first. On most team jerseys, the team crest owns the chest. Sponsor logos then go in the places that read well in play and in photos:

  • Upper back, above or below the name
  • Shoulders and sleeves
  • Lower back or hem
  • Socks or pant shells, for hockey

If a main sponsor is paying for the chest, keep the team crest strong somewhere else, such as the shoulder, so the jersey still looks like yours.

Build sponsor tiers around placement

Placement is the easiest way to set sponsor levels. A main sponsor gets the most visible spot and the largest logo. Supporting sponsors get sleeves, shoulders or the lower back at a smaller size.

Write the placement and size into each sponsor agreement. It saves arguments later, and it gives you a clear answer when a new sponsor asks what they get.

Check league rules first

Many leagues and tournaments limit sponsor logos: how many, how big, where, and sometimes what kind of business. Get your league's rules in writing before you design, and check tournament rules too if you travel.

Make logos fit the jersey

A sponsor's logo is designed for signs and websites, not for a jersey in motion. Ask the sponsor if they have a one-colour or reversed (light on dark) version. These usually look cleaner than a full-colour logo dropped on a busy background.

Keep enough contrast with the jersey colour behind it, and leave space around each logo so it doesn't crowd the numbers or crest. Small logos with fine detail or thin text get hard to read, so test the size on the proof.

Get the right files and permission

Vector files print best: AI, EPS, PDF or SVG. A high-resolution PNG or JPG also works. For images, a transparent background is best. Avoid logos pulled from a website or email signature, which are usually too small.

We print sponsor logos only with the sponsor's permission, and we may ask for proof. Get a short email from the sponsor confirming you can use the logo on your jerseys.

Cost and changing sponsors

Because sublimation dyes the ink into the fabric, sponsor logos cost nothing extra and won't crack or peel.

Sponsors change between seasons. Your design is saved in Team Manager, so you can swap a logo and reorder. If sponsors turn over often, keep their logos in placements that can change without redesigning the whole jersey. Every change gets a digital proof before production.

Quick rule

The team crest stays the biggest mark unless a sponsor's agreement says otherwise.
